Orchid Story 36 - Shanghai nights and a mini marathon

October 2006

My Dear Orchid Story Reader

What on Earth again ;-)? Well, let's see...

1. Face painting for little kids
2. Shanghai nights… just loved them!
3. Mini marathon in Singapore

1. Face painting for little kids

At the beginning of the month my friend, Shweta (India) funnily challenged me to dare refresh my face-painting skills ;-)! Our company has a huge balloon in the city centre and in the surrounding little park we organized an International Children's Day program for chronically ill kids! Our gang of volunteers put together some easy plan and had a great time with the little ones! Okay, okay, my paintings were almost always wannabes instead of actual good face paintings but we still had a good time - I think so did the kids! Oh, and we even made it to the local tv - in four languages! Mwuhahahaaa!

2. Shanghai nights… just loved them!

With Irina (Romania), Pilli (Kenya), Lars (Germany) and Tiffany (Singapore) we packed up last week to visit our friend Devrim (US/Turkey) and Triin (Estonia) and explore Shanghai and its famous casinos, shows and unprecedently quickly developing centre. We visited a Chinese circus, lots of restaurants, karaoke, jazz festival, tried Shanghai massage, saw the heavenly shores of the Hangzhou lake and I could go on and on! We danced the nights away and had a great time together! I simply adored the Shanghai nights! (For a never-ending story, click here and for photos here ;-))

3. Mini marathon is Singapore

Who would have thought that I keep going on with this running obsession? Well, after the Thailand run in March finally I could healthily await the 10 km challenge here in Singaland! Our company had a group of 26 women who looked forward to the run together and I am happy to tell you that together we completed our mission - and we even made it to the 3rd place in the corporate runners’ category! I finished the run in 1 hour 2 mins 28 seconds which is a pretty good result, given that my duck-alike-running has had caused some hick-ups in my knees. Yet again, I must say it was a great experience ;-)! If curious to see some pics, check this out!

Hugs and love
