Orchid Story 39 - Adventure or reality?
January 2007
My Dear Orchid Story Reader
Sometimes I really wonder how to make a difference between adventure and reality in my life. At certain times I feel I get a decent portion of both but other times I can't separate them. But let’s see what has happened in the first month of 2007!
1. Back to Fairyland... or my stories from New Zealand
2. My first ever Chinese wedding here in Singapore
3. Believe it or not but it is done... end of discussion :-P
1. Back to Fairyland... or my stories from New Zealand
It has been over three years that I was last in New Zealand but as my friends, Sharon and Alan had decided to link their lives officially together and get married here was the time to return to the place where I lived for 1.5 years and that even now seems absolutely unrealistic and surrealistic! Seeing my team again (Maryna, Amit, Keno, Alice, Sharon), friends from our student organisation and my ex workplaces was very cool and slowly I admitted this life used to be my reality! ;-) We traveled a fair bit around: saw thermal spa, climbed glaciers, visited fiords and I could go on and on! My long story about the ten days I spent here and in Sydney will always be a great reminder of the awesome moments that can be further enhanced while viewing the online photo album. If keen, you know where to click, ay ;-)?
2. My first ever Chinese wedding in Singapore
Well, not just in Singapore but the very-very first ever Chinese wedding it was that I ended up attending on the second weekend of the year! My friends, Jamie (Taiwan) and Wayne (Malaysia/Australia) got married this time! Apparently it was a fairly modern ceremony with the bride singing karaoke to the groom, friends salsa dance performing, having quizzes but it was also fairly traditional by the round tables and peaceful people around (who did not want to party, it seemed). A picture can tell more than a thousand word so check this out!
3. Believe it or not but it is done… end of discussion :-P
The last 3.5 months often seemed rather like a year when I got into feeling a martyr while spending hours and days with those finance and accounting papers! But last weekend the nightmare got over as all exams are completed! Now it is time to study something interesting ;-)
I wish you all a very happy day ahead and of course a prosperous fun year, too!

great as usual, fun to see you always with something different: a snake around your neck; drinking something nasty; riding an elephant. This time on a cajak. NOT BAD!

WEDDING
Great fun. Thanks for sharing the show with me on stage. I think people had fun, laughed and got engaged. Next time we need to sing! :)
